BIOLOGY
Genetics- Punnett squares
Students can use this interactive site to practice genetic problems using punnett squares.
This site gives examples of monohybrid, dihybrid, test cross, sex-linked, and multiple alleles problems.

Cells AliveStudents can use this site to review over the process of the cell cycle both for mitosis and meiosis.01-coll-dna-knoll-l.jpgStudents can also look at pictures of different types of cells.

DNA structure and function
Site contains a tutorial video explaining what DNA is and describing its function. Also, provides an interactive section in which
students build a model of DNA

Transcription and Translation
Students can use this site to review over the process of transcription and Translation. Students can visualize how DNA is transcribed
into RNA and then how RNA is translated into a protein.

Prions
Students can learn all about Prions: What is a prion? How do they spread? What are some examples of Prion infections?

Biomes
Students can use this site to access pictures and facts about biomes.
Students could use this site when working on their biome poster project.

Biomes II
Additional site for students to access information about various biomes for the student biome poster project.

Food chains
This site explains a food chains and the different trophic levels of a food chain. Also, it provides an interactive part in which students
build a food chain given a group of organisms.

Endangered Species
This is a link to a webquest about endangered species.
Students will learn the difference between endangered and extinct species.

Animals
This site contains a database of animal sounds and vidoes. Students could use this site to search for videos or audio of specific
animals to use for projects and class presentations.

Hardy-Weinberg Principle
This site is an interactive online lab for students to complete. The lab goes through the steps of calculating the frequencies of
recessive alleles by applying the Hardy-weinberg principle.

Sponges and Cnidarians
This site provides general information about animal characteristics. Students could use this site to for a reading assignment about the
characteristics of sponges and cnidarians. This would be a good site to use in place of the textbook material.

Invertebrates Webquest
This site offers a webquest for students to complete to further their understanding of invertebrates. This could be used as an introduction
to an invertebrate unit or a review over invertebrates.

Vertebrates
This site reviews over the 5 main groups of vertebrates. Students will learn about fish, amphibians, reptiles, birds and mammals.
After reading about each group and viewing examples of each group, students complete an interactive quiz to match an animal with
the correct characteristics of the vertebrate groups.

Enzyme Lab
Students complete an online interactive lab about enzymes. Students learn about the enzyme catalase and how it is used to
break down hydrogen peroxide in the body.

Pedigree
Students learn about pedigrees and how they can be used to trace a trait through a family. This is an interactive site in which students
have to build a pedigree for a single gene trait.

Flower Structure
Students can use this site as an informational site and supplemental reading material. Many diagrams show the structures of a flower
and the process of plant reproduction.

Photosynthesis
An overview of the process of photosynthesis with diagrams of the leaf structures involved in photosynthesis. Students will use this
site as a reading assignment.

Cell membrane
This site provides students with information about the cell membrane structure. Students will learn about the phospholipids and
their role in controlling the movement of materials in and out of the cell.

Photosynthesis and Cellular Respiration Equations
Students will use this site as a supplemental reading assignment and review over the process of photosynthesis and
cellular respiration. This site shows how the relationship between cellular respiration and photosynthesis by examining the
chemical equations.
